The focus of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VINRAD) department is on research and innovation within the field of minimally invasive, image-guided therapies and diagnostic procedures. We treat a wide range of conditions, with particular expertise in neurointerventional, oncological, vascular, and musculoskeletal diseases. Our patients are followed up both on an outpatient basis and after their treatment by our interventional radiologists, thanks in part to our own hospitalization beds.
Services
- We are a high-tech department that uses imaging techniques, along with catheters and needles, to access various structures within the body.
- This enables us to perform minimally invasive, targeted treatments and to take precise tissue biopsies and blood samples.
- Our facilities include three biplane angiography suites, a tilting X-ray table and a CT scan suite.
- In addition, we have three ultrasound machines and various ablation devices, including cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), laser ablation and irreversible electroporation (IRE), enabling us to effectively treat a wide range of conditions.
- Our team consists of experienced study coordinators and principal investigators (PIs), each with specific expertise within their own field.
- We actively participate in clinical trials and also set up our own academic studies, in collaboration with other departments within UZ Gent as well as with external national and international centres. In this way, we contribute to the development of innovative treatments.
